Dr. Lisa Belzberg

Dr. Lisa Belzberg is the Founder and Chair Emerita of the non-profit organization PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning). She has worked for political campaign consultant David Garth, as a producer of The Charlie Rose Show, as a Principal at Leeds Equity Partners, and she is currently an Adjunct Professor at SIPA/Columbia University. Dr. Belzberg was named one of the “10 Most Influential New Yorkers” by New York magazine.  And, Dr. Belzberg was honored as one of Redbook’s “Mothers and Shakers,” was featured in Harper’s Bazaar’s “A View From The Top: Seven Power Women,” was named one of George magazine’s “Citizens of the Year,” and was included in Crain’s New York Business’ list of “40 Under 40.” She is an acting Board member for OneFamily Fund, Action Canada, JDC and the Barnard/Columbia Center for Urban Policy. She also sits on the Dean’s Council for NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education and is an active member of the Advisory Board of Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Ed). She was a member on Governor Cuomo’s NY Education Reform Commission. Dr. Belzberg holds a B.A. from Barnard College, M.Sc. from The London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in Education from New York University.
